The secret to flavourful and crispy tofu (including recipe)
You've probably heard that tofu is bland, and it certainly can be - but not if you know how to cook it!
The secret: A good marinade or sauce, and cornflour.

For flavour, marinade it for a few hours (or a day if you can) in whatever flavours you like, or if you're feeling lazy like I usually am, just buy a pre-marinade one like the Tofoo Co sriracha or teriyaki flavours.
Another way to elevate the flavour is to add seasonings in with the cornflour - a little paprika and black pepper works a treat!
Adding a decent sauce is really important too (especially if you haven't taken the two steps above). A personal favourite is this sticky soy and garlic recipe.
For crispy tofu, coating it in cornflour before frying is absolutely essential. Don't skip this step!
Step-by-step
You will need:
1 block of extra firm tofu, marinaded for ultimate flavour.
Cornflour
Herbs or spices
Olive oil
Directions:
Tear or cut your tofu into bite-sized chunks and add to a Tupperware with 3-4tbsp of cornflour (along with any additional seasonings).
Shake the Tupperware to coat the pieces in the flour.
Heat a little olive oil in a pan and once hot add the tofu chunks.
After 6-7 mins flip the pieces (or stir if you’ve got small chunks) to ensure they cook evenly.
When they are golden brown and crispy (about 10-15 mins), remove from the heat and serve in a salad, stir fry, or dip straight into sauce!
Easy-peasy and done in 15 minutes.
Add to salads, stir fries, or dip in my spicy peanut sauce. Save this for next week's meal prep!
